Dinner

I had some stupid formal dinner to attend yesterday night with the deputy rector of the uni. I just realised what a terrible thing formal dinners are. They make you eat everything! Whether you want to or not. What an abuse of human rights. What if its poisoned? They're seriously violating people's rights.

I had to eat mushroom soup.

I HATE mushroom soup.
It tastes terrible. Horrible. Awful. Poisonous.
No offence to mushroom soup fans/companies out there. I'm sure SOMEONE out there likes eating creamy fungi.

Not me.

Movies!!!

I just finished watching Shark Tales today. Yeah, awfully late for it. And I must say that I liked it. Wierd, cartoons still appeal to me. I'll never grow up O.o

But, speaking of movies, my favourite would DEFINITELY be the Matrix trilogy. I LOVE those three...they kick ass!!! Respect to the Wachowski's for their work.
Next in line would of course be the Star Treks: Insurrection, First Contact and Nemesis. Patrick Stewart's acting is awesome, and the story lines are killers...especially for First Contact and Nemesis. I just love the starships too. Wish I owned one. Go whizz at warp 9.9 in the delta quadrant and run circles around the borg cube.

I like Star Wars too. Lovely double trilogy. Especially the light saber fights, who can NOT like them? I just found out that Darth Maul is played by Ray Parker, a highly trained martial arts expert. I looooooove the character. Mr. Parker's actually been in quite a number of movies, including X-Men (Toad) and was the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow. The funny thing about him is that he rarely gets roles with dialogue. Even the oh-so-verbose 'Yes Master' and 'At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have our revenge' lines were dubbed over by someone else. Does Ray have such a terrible voice??

LOTR is pretty cool. I think Peter Jackson did an amazing job with the cast. Elijah Woods was the best person to play Frodo around. His eyes...wow...bewitching. He has that pained expression in them. And Viggo Mortensen...respect for a real good actor there. In some ways he really brings out the spirit of camaraderie of the old days. And then there is that wonderfully beautiful Rohan princess Eowyn. Now she is one lovely, elegant lady. I searched forever for this huge wallpaper of her where she's got that smile of hers just right.

And aside from that, I just found my favourite movie line of all time. 'You've been living on chips for the past 30 years!'. Said by Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) in Secret Window. Dunno why, but it really struck me when I heard it.

Wonder what else strikes me. Wanna go back to watching movies.
*groan* tomorrow's monday. Need to find out when my digital logic design midterm exam is. I dropped differential equations and linear algebra. Couldn't put up with the idiot of a lecturer. So, I'll be doing it next sem. And a whole load of other subjects which will drive me crazy. Nonetheless, need to be done. I hope the DLD exam is this weekend instead of in the middle of the week.

Hiya

Hi there,
My first entry! Damn, sometimes its hard even to chose an appropriate title for a blog and to check for the availability of the url. This one took me hours to get.

Let me introduce myself.

Basically, I'm a 19-year old university student enrolled in computer and information engineering. I made this blog to...well...errr...to have a voice I guess. I've tried blogging before. Gotten tired of it. Tried again. Gotten tired. Again. Tired. The moral of the story is: that I've kept trying. So I imagine its something that I want to do. Or else I wouldn't have tried it so much. Or I might be reading the wrong moral into this. In any case, what's done is done.

For an engineer, people tell me that I think a lot. I find that engineers don't think a lot. They DO a lot. But not think. Usually do without thinking. Thats what most of our teachers tell us anyway. When I ask 'why?' a million times in class with my eyes wide open like a disney cartoon character, the answer always is: 'I don't know, just do it'. We live in a world of Nike.

I'm a poet, an author and a song-writer. Or at least I like to think I am. We'll see about that. Currently I'm engaged in an enormous project of writing my favourite quotes, from anywhere, on this big piece of paper and hanging it in my dorm room. It'll have a lot of swearing and rude comments. But it'll be great.

I de-registered for one of my subjects this weekend, so I have a whole lot of more free time. Currently, I'm just taking digital logic design - which is hopelessly simple. I would love to do DLD for fun on a rainy afternoon with a cup of hot choclate. Its like doing fun games and puzzles. Filling out all those truth tables and blah. My teacher's pretty cool too. She's got a nice teaching style. Much more caring than the rest of the lecturers. Most of them have very pointy corners.

Two of my library books are overdue. Been overdue for a long time. Goddamn, why can undergrads only borrow them for two weeks?? Man I used to be able to borrow them for much longer back in school.

Maybe I should go and get them renewed at the library. *groan*
I hate walking all that way.

Ciao
